Hello fellow creative!
I worked in a small arts centre once and at the back of the gallery was a tiny room, more of a cupboard really, where we stored art, our personal belongings and the ubiquitous printer.
It was a messy, cluttered space most of the time, but when we had a gallery reception and the centre was crammed full of artists and visitors and the band we hired to entertain and kids running around and partners who’d been dragged to the exhibition opening, it became a Care Hub: the place we retreated to for ten minutes of quiet, to talk about the art, to moan about not getting a grant, to dream of having larger storage space, to support each other.
That is what my Chat is now.
Welcome to the back room Care Hub.
The Care Hub is a place for mutual support.
Drop into the Care Hub any time to talk about your art, ask questions, vent your frustrations, post images of your work, chat with me, or ask the Private View community for support.
You may not have used Chat before or even know where it is. No worries, if you navigate to the top of the Private View page in the Substack app or website, you’ll find the Chat button.
Click on Chat, then click on my blurb below the Care Hub yellow box, and add your reply or reply to any conversation that another Private Viewer has started.
If you’re a paid subscriber, you have a little perk in that you can start a new conversation in the Care Hub Chat by clicking on “Start a new thread”.
ALL subscribers can leave comments.
Some folks have already found me in the back room Care Hub and we’ve been chatting about our “weird” art. Come join us!
I’m committing to being there to listen, answer questions, uplift and inspire, and I hope that over time some of my readers might become that support for other artists too.
I’ll also send a weekly invitation to Chat (probably on Fridays) so we can take time over the weekend to think about what we need.
Let’s see how it works.
Meet you there?
