We’ve been working in the arts for the same length of time. I miss the early days of my career when i attended the monthly art fair in my village and made just enough to keep me going until the next one. Ahh, those simpler days! Membership groups, they’re everywhere aren’t they? I don’t have the energy to lead one or to create more content for a patreon. Like you, i’m leaning towards a small group of peers who are willing to actively support each other, give critiques when requested and be accountability partners. Maybe we should chat offline. Thanks for being here and contributing❤️🦋
That's funny about #3 because those have been my more "popular" posts on Insta - showing the "unveiling of the solargraphs" videos. BUT, I'm also not selling the art actively so... maybe it doesn't make a difference? With solargraphy it feels like people want to know how the images are made because it's such a niche photography process. But, again, I'm also haven't attempted making money from it...so ... :p
When i was making all my natural paints i had loads of other artists wanting to know how to make them, but it made no difference to my collectors. I think most buyers just want a nice picture for their wall and the back story sometimes helps them make the decision to buy, sometimes not. I’ve realised that “popular” doesn’t equal a sale, sadly! That’s one of the myths social media sells us.
Oh I must watch that, thanks Liz!
