Amazing! I’ll look forward to seeing how those photos and your experience of the North Sea translates into your work. Sometimes I find that its months or even years into the future before certain experiences find their way into my work.

Ok, so this is a massive fail as it looks like you can’t add images to a substack comment!😂 Urgh, sorry! I will have to figure out a different way.

Feel free to write about what you are working on and let me know if I’m missing something here and there is a way of adding a photo.

Always learning!

I'll write about what I'm working on instead...I've been working on a largeish canvas painting that blends together 3 different projects: self-portraiture, Leda & the Swan, garden plans. At the moment it looks like a garden with me and Leda chatting in the center. It's very quirky, I like it. I wish I could show you a photo here :)

I am obsessed with the Leda and the Swan myth and how it has been translated in art over time. Love to see what inspires you about it. I am currently working on a When Women were birds painting, still trying to decide if I want to collage the feathers.

Oooo that sounds lovely! Those collage/not collage decisions are tricky, aren’t they? I love the texture and extra dimension that collage gives to a painting. I am totally obsessed by Leda’s story and angry at how it still plays out today😡 Thanks for sharing💐

I am infuriated too. Spent a lot of time this year trying to figure out the origins of this myth. Really enjoying your writing.

I'm on a break from consistent creating. But! I did just strip some willow bark to dry and make a small basket with. I've made baskets before, but never from bark! When I'm on a creative break I tend to work with natural materials, fibers, herbs, floral teas and wild foods. I'm also really enjoying reading books about art, feminism and healing. I also like to paint for fun when I'm not concentrating on anything. So I over-painted a brown wooden horse with vibrant florescent yellow's, oranges and creams. I have a fresh pallet playing in my mind that I'm waiting to get into the studio and work with. Have you ever been drawn to art just to play with colour combinations?

I love that you say you are on a creative break and then list all the wonderful creative activities you’ve been enjoying💚

I recently bought a new set of watercolours in a very different palette than i usually go for - much darker - and I’ve enjoyed playing with them. So yes, I do love to tinker with art just to enjoy colour combos.

“Art, feminism and healing” - that’s everything. Enjoy your inconsistent creating! 💐💫
